Shawn's Bee Notes

November 2008

After a busy honey season, we are in the process of prepping the hives for the colder months to come. Thankfully our weather has been very mild with temps up to the 60's so the bees are still flying.   However next week, snow flurries are forecasted so our time with the bees is ending for the year.   The smaller 5 frame nucs are doing well so they will be overwintered on top of our larger hives for warmth.   We have high hopes that next spring all will have weathered the storms and we can begin building more hives for the coming spring.   We have plans for a pollination field in our nearby fields and a breeding field closer to the house.
